The country’s largest automaker Maruti Suzuki has hiked prices of its cars sold via regular as well a premium Nexa dealership. The hike in prices will range between Rs 1,500 for the Alto and the WagonR, while the Baleno price has been hiked by Rs 8,014. Unlike most car manufactures who had hiked prices January 1, 2017 onwards, Maruti Suzuki has been the last one to do so. The automaker has cited rise in material prices, transportation and administrative costs as the reason behind the hike in prices.

Maruti Suzuki has strong plans for 2017, which has already begun with the Ignis and the WagonR VXi+ variant. In the coming months the automaker will begin operations at the Gujarat facility and roll-out the much awaited Baleno RS variant. As for the year ahead, we also expect to see the Ciaz facelift, petrol Vitara Brezza, all-new Swift and the Dzire compact sedan. The Indian automaker might launch the Dzire sedan before introducing the all-new Swift in the country. The automaker had last hiked prices in the country way back in August 2016 by Rs 20,000.

The recently launched WagonR VXi+ variant is the new top-spec trim to be launched in the tall boy line-up. The vehicle gets cosmetic upgrades from the Stingray with features in form of new front grille, alloy wheels and side skirts. The vehicle comes in dual-tone interior combination for freshness. The vehicle is also available in two more variants – airbags with ABS and Auto Gear Shift. The new variant starts at Rs 4.69 lakh. More details on company’s future products will be known in the coming days.
