Country's largest automaker Maruti Suzuki has constantly managed to stand on top of sales charts owing to its top-selling hatchback Alto 800. The company has been offering the economical hatchback in a CNG trim apart from the regular petrol variant. This time around, as per sources, the company has been working on offering the Alto 800 in a diesel trim sometime by December this year.
Sharing the Celerio diesel platform, the Alto 800 in diesel would also be powered by a 800cc two-cylinder diesel engine that generates about 47.6 Ps of power with 125 Nm of torque. The Alto trims have been known to be highly fuel efficient vehicle in the country and the diesel trim is expected to stand up to those expectations with anticipated mileage figures of about 28 kmpl.
