Maruti Suzuki, the country’s largest automaker will soon inaugurate a new production facility in Gujarat. The new facility will begin production for the Baleno and Vitara Brezza by early 2017. This means that the waiting period on these popular models is set to come down further. The new facility will also help ease pressure on Maruti’s plant in Haryana. Moreover, the new facility will also help in conveniently shipping cars via waterways.

The new Maruti facility will also help the company in managing production for the upcoming models like Ignis, Baleno RS and the third-gen Swift. Moreover, it will also help the company meet the export requirements. Owing to popularity and increasing waiting period on the Vitara Brezza, the carmaker has increased production to 10,000 units from 8,000 units manufactured earlier. On the other hand, the automaker will also increase Baleno production to 12,000 units monthly from the current 8,000 units mark.

The 20 per cent increment in monthly volume will also mean a rise in production for third party suppliers. The company is reportedly in talks with suppliers over the same and will ensure that the new Gujarat facility is started as scheduled. Speaking about the upcoming facility, Mr RS Kalsi, executive director, marketing and sales, Maruti Suzuki India, was quoted as saying that the company feels bad and embarrassed as their customers have been on waiting for long and now the company will focus on capacity enhancement that will also ease the production lines and enhance production.
