      Maruti Reveals SX4 Hatchback, Hybrid; Concept R3; Kizashi

      Maruti Suzuki India Limited revealed its much awaited Concept R3 model at the Delhi Auto Expo 2010. The car is definitely an MPV marvel for Indian roads with breathtaking interiors and dynamic exteriors to catch more glimpses from the onlookers. The coach type doors are something reckon but the model is definitely a perfect utility vehicle for Indian customers. Maruti has not revealed the final specifications or the final price details. The car is not expected soon in India as Maruti has made no announcements about the model going into production anytime soon.

      Maruti also showed its latest luxury sedan model – Kizashi especially for the Delhi Auto Expo. The car has already been launched in the Japanese and the American markets where it is extremely successful. Now Maruti plans to bring the model to India. Kizashi will have a 2.4 litre engine which produces 174 PS power and 230 NM of torque, the same engine doing duty on the Vitara however it will be mated to a CVT transmission on the Kizashi. "We may look at introducing Kizashi here by the end of the year," Shinzo Nakanishi, MD, Maruti Suzuki India said at the Auto Expo 2010. Kizashi will be imported as a completely built unit which may make it pricier and is expected to sell around Rs. 15 lakh and above.

      A new model of Maruti’s SUV Grand Vitara Celeb was on display at the Maruti Pavilion. The model was showcased with two tone body colour and all white interiors.

      Maruti displayed its latest SX4 model in hatchback and hybrid versions. The mid-sized sedan as done well in the Indian market and with new variants coming in, SX4 still hold good market in India. It also showcased recent models of its small cars – Alto Xcite, Wagon R Traveller, the new Ritz and Maruti Swift.

      Suzuki had also bought some of their 2 wheelers for display viz the Suzuki Intruder, the Hayabusa, the GSX-R 600 and The SV650S along with scooters like the Skywave 400 and the Suzuki Burgman which operates on hydrogen power (Fuel cell).

      There were car games that kids could play and a Swift Simulator. There was also a design studio where you could custom design a few of the Maruti models by changing the exteriors and interiors with an option to share the design with your friends via email.

      The company expects its sales to grow by around 10 per cent in 2010. "On an annualised basis we have grown about 9.5-10 per cent in the last two years. We expect the same rate of growth in the calendar year 2010," said Maruti Suzuki India Managing Director Shinzo Nakanishi.
