      Maruti May Achieve 10 Lakh Units Sales Figure This Month

      Maruti Suzuki India Limited is India’s largest car manufacturer and every second car sold in India is a Maruti. MSIL has already sold 9,23,242 units till February 2010 and may hit its 10 lakh units sales figure before the end of this current year. Maruti Suzuki has sold a total of 96,650 vehicles last month including 11,885 units of exports. It sold 95,649 vehicles in January which was a previous highest record for the company. This February it was the best every record for the company.

      In the domestic market, Maruti sold 84,765 units from 70,625 units in February 2009, an increase of 20.02 per cent. Exports surged by 38.76 per cent to 11,885 units from 8,565 units in the year-ago period, it added. Maruti had sold 79,190 units during the same month last year. "This is the highest-ever total monthly sales in the company's history," Maruti Suzuki India (MSI) said in a statement.

      Apart from its sales volumes, Maruti is also quickly setting up its world class research and development units. India is the only country where Suzuki has its most upbeat R&D center outside Japan. Now MSIL intends to grow independent of its parent company and plans to launch a completely ‘made-in-India’ car for the Indian market. The car is expected to be launched by 2012.
