Maruti Suzuki India Ltd, the largest car maker in the Indian market, has launched its much anticipated sedan – Maruti Kizashi – in the Indian market on Wednesday. The car has been priced up to Rs 17.5 lakh
Sporting a 2.4 litre petrol engine, the Kizashi model will be imported through CBU (completely built unit) route from Suzuki’s base market in Japan. The car is capable of delivering a peak power of 178PS at 6,500 rpm along with a peak torque of 230Nm at 4,000 rpm.
Speaking to the reporters at the launching ceremony, Maruti Suzuki India Managing Director and CEO Shinzo Nakanishi said, "The Kizashi is a major step forward for Maruti Suzuki. With the launch of this luxurious sporty sedan, the company is able to offer an international car to top-end customers in India."
The car has been rolled-out in two variants including a Manual and an automatic transmission version, priced at Rs 16.5 lakh and Rs 17.5 lakh, respectively. While the manual transmission version takes just 7.8 seconds to break the speed barrier of 100 km/h, the AT variant takes 8.8 seconds to reach the same. The mileage of Manual and AT transmission versions are 12.45 kmpl and 12.53 kmpl, respectively.
According to Mr. Mayank Pareek, Managing Executive Officer-Marketing, Maruti Suzuki, "This is our latest offering in the upper segment. This is a A4 segment car with A5 features. There are features which are not even there in A5 cars. We are positioning it as a sports luxury car. It has got best in class engine, highest power. It has got features like cruise control, electronic stability program, ABS, EBD and 10-way seat adjustment."
