Noting the growing demand for AMT cars in the country, the upcoming Maruti Suzuki Ignis is expected to get AMT at launch. Earlier reports indicated that the Ignis will be launched before the end of this year, however, Maruti has now confirmed that the vehicle will be launched before the end of this fiscal year. The upcoming Ignis will be sold via Maruti’s premium Nexa outlets in the country.

As the newcomers like the Baleno and the Vitara Brezza have been doing well in India, the carmaker will focus on further boosting their sales during the upcoming festive season. This will mean that the new Ignis from Maruti Suzuki might be launched sometime early in 2017.

The upcoming Maruti Suzuki Ignis will be offered in petrol and diesel engine options. The petrol will get a 1.2-litre engine, while the diesel will be powered by a 1.3-litre engine. As the car will be sold via Nexa dealerships, in terms for safety we can expect to see the new Maruti Ignis being offered with driver and passenger airbags, and ABS with EBD as standard. The new model will get a Micro SUV stance and shall emerge as a strong competitor against the Mahindra KUV100.

The pricing aspect is unknown for now, but we believe it should be priced between Rs 5 – 7 lakh. More details about the vehicle will be known in the coming months. Maruti Suzuki had showcased the five-seat Ignis at the 2016 Auto Expor. The automaker boasts that the upcoming car will get a lighter frame and will be strongly built for uncompromised safety.
