The Ciaz will now no longer be offered through the present Maruti Suzuki dealer network. From April 1, the mid-size sedan will be sold only through Nexa outlets.
The carmaker has recently started dispatching Ciaz cars with ‘NEXA’ badges instead of the Maruti Suzuki badge. The variant badge has also been replaced by the Ciaz badge on the right side of the boot lid and Nexa moniker on the left. Interestingly, a new blue colour has been added to the existing colour palette.
Mechanically, the Ciaz remains the same and will be available in the 1.4-litre petrol and 1.3-litre diesel engine options. A five-speed manual transmission is standard, while the petrol model will be offered with an optional four-speed automatic in the Delta, Zeta and Alpha variants.
R S Kalsi, Executive Director, marketing and sales, Maruti Suzuki India Limited, said, "Today, NEXA has established itself as a successful model with over 2,00,000 cars being delivered in less than two years of launch. Ciaz at NEXA gives us the confidence to do even better and strengthen the brand, Maruti Suzuki. Through this move, we will be able to offer the Nexa experience to new customers. At the same time, Ciaz will help us achieve our sustained long term goal of 20 per cent sales through NEXA."
The Maruti Suzuki Ciaz was being retailed only through regular Maruti dealerships till now. However, the sedan will be officially moved to the Nexa dealership chain in order to separate this premium product from their mass-market offerings.
