Maruti’s highly anticipated Ciaz sedan has opened to a good start with 3000 pre-launch bookings garnered in just three days after the company officially started accepting bookings. Putting all speculations to rest officials at MSI have confirmed that instead of September end, the new Ciaz sedan will be launched in India in October. According to latest reports, MSI could unleash Ciaz for sale just a few days ahead of Diwali in the second week of October. By then the pre-launch booking number will also rise. Salting launch around Diwali will definitely help the sedan to get a good start. The Honda City rivaling sedan will be launched in both petrol and diesel engine options in a total of four trim levels. Engine line-up will include a 1.4 litre K14 M petrol engine and Fiat sourced 1.3 litre Multijet engine that is claimed to deliver an excellent fuel economy of 26.3 kmpl which is a tad more than Honda City diesel that vouches to return 25.8 kmpl.
Boasting of segment largest dimensions, Ciaz has a length of 4.43 meters, it is 1.73 meters wide and will be 1.48 meters in height. Hence with such dimensions the sedan is expected to offer a capacious cabin. Besides this, it is expected that Ciaz will offer boot space of 510 litre which is again huge.
The company has already revealed feature list to be offered on the sedan that includes projector head lamps, 16 inch alloy wheels, chrome grille in the front, electrically foldable ORVMs with turn key indicators, ABS, EBD, STECT for passenger safety, push button start, rear AC vents and automatic climate control with dust and pollen filter, premium leather upholstery, camera assisted rear parking along with rear parking sensors and several other equipments.
On the price front the sedan is expected to be made available at Rs 7.5 lakh for the starting range while the high end variant is likely to be priced at Rs 11 lakh. MSI is trying hard to make its presence felt in this segment, hopefully Ciaz will be able to bring desired results for MSI.
