After giving a glimpse of the Ciaz concept at the 2014 Auto Expo, Maruti Suzuki India will eventually launch production version of the sedan in India during festive season. Auto makers tend to bring new products during this time as customers in India consider it an auspicious time to make a purchase. After exhibiting the concept version in Delhi, test mule of the sedan has been spotted various times across the country. Followed by its display in February in India, Suzuki showcased near production version of sedan (under a different name) at Beijing Motor Show.
In India, Ciaz will replace SX4 sedan production of which has already been barred of late. During its itinerary in domestic market, SX4 was initially launched in petrol variant followed by a CNG trim and finally a diesel version. However, introduction of CNG and diesel avatars could not do any good to the vehicle.
Maruti Suzuki India will spawn new Ciaz in petrol and diesel guise, the 1.3 litre Multijet diesel engine will be retained from the SX4 diesel model. Petrol range on the other hand will be housed with a 1.4 litre, four cylinder, K-Series petrol motor ditching the 1.6 litre petrol mill. This is the same engine that does duty in Ertiga compact MPV. Along with manual gearbox, MSI could also roll out CVT variant of Ciaz most likely on the petrol trim only.
Among the equipments expected to be featured on the high end versions of Ciaz projector lights, 16 inch alloy wheels will be included on the exteriors. Inside the cabin, rear AC vents will be equipped for the comfort of occupants sitting at rear, other features including climate control, steering mounted controls, engine starter button, keyless entry, Bluetooth Connectivity will also be offered. Prominent safety features like Anti-Lock-Braking-System along with Electronic Brakeforce Distribution and two airbags are expected to be embedded in the high end version of Ciaz.
