Maruti Suzuki India Limited hiked prices of all its models in its product portfolio except for Maruti Alto and Grand Vitara. The prices were increased with immediate effect ranging between Rs. 2000 to Rs. 7500 depending upon the model and the variant. The company cited rising input costs as the reason for price hike. "Due to a sharp increase in the input costs, Maruti Suzuki India has decided to pass on a part of this cost impact to customers," the company said in a statement.

The price of Wagon R LXi is up by Rs. 3500 and VXi by Rs. 4500. All Swift models are expensive by Rs. 4500 while SX4 got expensive by Rs. 7500. There is no change in price of Grand Vitara, nor for Maruti Alto.

Maruti has been posting robust sales in the Indian market and has ramped up its production plans as well. It is also escalating its production capacity at both its plants to reduce the waiting period on all its best selling models like Swift and Swift Dzire. Maruti's domestic sales surged 33.4% to 90,114 units and exports rose 1.9% to 10,743 units in July 2010 over July 2009. Maruti Suzuki said the domestic sales were the highest ever in a month.
