The India-made Maruti Suzuki Baleno has achieved three stars in Euro NCAP crash tests. The one tested is a Euro-spec model which comes with six airbags, while in India the Baleno comes with dual front airbags and ABS as standard. The Baleno which was equipped with Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB) system scored a four-star rating in the Euro NCAP crash test. The safety pack loaded car scored 85 per cent in adult occupant safety, 73 per cent in child occupant safety, 65 per cent in pedestrian safety and 25 per cent in safety assist.

Maruti Baleno is offered in petrol and diesel engine options in India. The petrol version gets a 1.2-litre engine that generates 83bhp of power. The diesel variant gets a 1.3-litre engine which generated 75bhp of power. Both the engines come mated to a five-speed manual transmission, while the CVT transmission is optional only in the petrol guise.
