Maruti and Hyundai see an increase in sales in Feb   16

Maruti Suzuki India Limited leader in passenger vehicles sold a total of117,451units inFebruary 2016. This includes 108,115 units in the domestic market and9,336units in exports.During the month, the reservation agitation had disrupted component supplies, causing a temporary suspension of production by the Company. Total production loss due to this was over 10,000 units. Despite that, the Company was able to achieve marginal growth in domestic sales. The major hike has been in the UV segment, while the other segments have seen a minor dip.

Hyundai Motor India Ltd also has registered the domestic sales of 40,716units inFebruary 2016.Commenting on the February sales Mr. Rakesh Srivastava, Sr. Vice President Sales and Marketing, Hyundai Motor India Ltd. said,“Hyundai domestic sales grew by 9.1% on the strength of strong performance of the three ‘Indian Car Of The Year’ brands Creta, Elite i20 and Grand in spite of logistic challenges for transportation of vehicles to North India and loss of many business days of dealership operations across Haryana.” Both the highest selling car brands have done exceptionally well for themselves.
