Maruti Suzuki introduced the CNG kit for its small car Alto. The kit is priced at Rs. 43,545 and will be available across all variants of the brand from July 17 onwards. However, these kits will be currently available only in Delhi and NCR region. The retrofitted CNG Altos would come with a 12-kg tank, which would accommodate 7-7.5 kg of Compressed Natural Gas.
"Alto has emerged as the most preferred car in India for its driveability, superior mileage, low ownership cost and overall reliability. We are confident that the Alto with a CNG option makes this car even more attractive for customers," said Maruti Suzuki Chief, Shashank Srivastava.
Maruti Suzuki has already stopped working on the LPG variants as it plans to roll out only CNG kits from 2010. It intends to rolls out its entire range of CNG cars first of which will be Alto.
