Indian auto giant Maruti Suzuki has resumed the production of its flagship export hatchback, Maruti A-Star, at its Manesar plant. The company was earlier forced to halt the production of the car partially due to the ongoing workers strike at this plant. The decision to resume the worker’s strike has been taken even as the talks between workers and management remained inconclusive for the third time on Wednesday.

The exports of A-Star, which had been mostly exported to the markets like Europe, got affected badly due to the halted production at the company’s Manesar unit.

Out of the 62 dismissed employees at its Manesar plant, whom workers are demanding to be reinstated, the company has agreed to take back on only 18. However, the agitating workers are demanding all of them to be reinstated. The Manesar plant workers have authorized MUKU (Maruti Udyog Kamgar Union) to negotiate on their behalf, after company rejected to recognize the new Maruti Suzuki Employees Union (MSEU).

According to a statement given by Centre of Indian Trade Unions (CITU) Haryana State President Satvir Singh, "The management is wrong in forcing the workers to sign a bond before entering the factory. We also demand that the state government should play a more active role in solving the issue."
