      The demand for utility vehicles (UVs) in India has always been quite high. Certain Indian car buyers have a tendency of purchasing vehicles that are stylish and powerful, along with having a commanding road presence. Ideal choices for such buyers are Multi Utility Vehicles (MUVs) or Multi-Purpose Vehicles (MPVs), which have gained popularity over the years. Some of the popular utility vehicles in the Indian car market are Chevrolet Enjoy, Mahindra Xylo, Tata Safari Storme, Maruti Suzuki Ertiga, Toyota Innova, Honda CR-V, Ford EcoSport and Renault Duster.

      A car that has done well in recent times is the Xylo from Mahindra & Mahindra, one of the most popular auto makers in India. Mahindra Xylo comes in 5 variants, namely D2, D4, H4, H8 and H9. There are two engine options - 2179 cc mHAWK and 2489 cc mDi CRDe diesel units. The D2 and D4 variants of the Mahindra Xylo are fitted with the 2.5-litre powertrain, whereas the H4, H8 and H9 are powered by the 2.2-litre engine. These two engine variants of the Mahindra Xylo generate outputs of 95 bhp (2.5-litre diesel) and 120 bhp (2.2-litre diesel).

      Exteriors of Mahindra Xylo boast of features like in-built rear spoiler, body coloured tailgate and bumpers, side body cladding, fog lamps and rear wiper. The design of the Xylo comprises sleek front grille with chrome inserts, stylish headlamps and pronounced wheel arches. Interiors of this car are equipped with roof console for spectacle holder, mobile charging points, sun-visor, theatre effect lamp and Digital Drive Assist System (DDAS). The presence of engine immobiliser, surround cool dual ACs, power steering, illumination ring, voice command technology, audio control on steering and remote fuel lid opener are other highlights of this MUV.

      Chevrolet Enjoy is an MPV with a stylish design that includes chrome surround three-dimensional grille, leaf style fog lamps and the signature bowtie, besides integrated sporty rear spoiler and striking headlamps. Dual-tone interiors along with wood-finish AC vents and trim door inserts lend a premium look to the cabin of Chevrolet Enjoy. In addition, there is a Triple Cluster Silver Surround Instrument Panel that adds to appearance of the dashboard, along with ensuring convenience through its night-time illumination function. Other features that enhance comfort and convenience include height adjustable driver seat, power windows, power adjustable outside rear view mirrors and multi-purpose accessory power outlet in the third row.

      Available in both petrol and diesel versions, Chevrolet Enjoy comes with two engine options. The diesel variants, LS, LT and LTZ, are powered by a 4-cylinder 1.3-litre powertrain, which churns out around 75.5 bhp and torque of up to 188 Nm. On the other hand, the LS, LT and LTZ petrol versions are equipped with 1.4-litre engine that generates an output of around 102 bhp.

      Based on individual choices, buyers can opt for either Mahindra Xylo or Chevrolet Enjoy, both of which have gained popularity in the Indian car market.
