      Mahindra Xylo To Be Launched in India

      The first Multi-purpose vehicle from Mahindra is ready to hit the Indian roads in January 2009. It has already started the production for its model at its Nasik manufacturing facility. It plans to start booking of the model most probably from 14th January 2009.

      The company intends to launch the Mahindra Xylo diesel option as well for the Indian customers. The new passenger vehicle from Mahindra has been c-o-created with customers to provide them complete lifestyle and luxury. The new model from Mahindra will be slated against Toyota Innova and will have 2.5L CRDe diesel engine option. It will be later launched with petrol engine and will also come with automatic transmission.

      Mahindra and Mahindra is also eyeing 20 percent sales from exports to the overseas market. The company plans to export Xylo to South Africa after within two to three months of its launch. It will export the car to ASEAN countries thereafter. “The left-hand drive version of the Xylo would come in around a year and then we plan to take it to countries like Brazil, Chile, countries of West Asia, and some of the African countries including Egypt,” said Mahindra Chairman, Pawan Goenka.

      Mahindra also aims three more launches during the year including an all-new SUV platform for mid-2010. “We will launch this yet-to-be-named SUV first in India and we plan to take it to the US market later,” said Goenka.
