Driving around in your favorite Mahindra XUV500 has become much more convenient. The company has launched the automatic option on three variants – W8 FWD for Rs 15.36 and W10 in FWD for Rs 16.2 Lakh and AWD for Rs 17.22 lakh (Ex-showroom, Navi Mumbai). The W8 FWD variant would be available across dealerships from 5th December, 2015. Speaking more on the occasion, Pravin Shah, President and Chief Executive M&M said, “The XUV500 broke new ground for Mahindra when it was first launched in 2011 and with the launch of the New Age XUV500 earlier this year we have emerged as a strong player in the premium SUV segment. At Mahindra, it is our constant endeavour to offer advanced and accessible technologies to our customers. The XUV500 already has many technology firsts to its credit and now we have further pushed the boundaries with the introduction of the XUV500 Automatic. Being a listening organization, we constantly incorporate consumer insights and feedback and i am sure that this variant would be an instant hit with our customers.”
The new age XUV500 is stated to be the only SUV in its class that offers 2nd generation 6-speed automatic transmission sourced from AISIN, Japan with AWD as option. The transmission also comes with torque converter and a planetary gear-train that enables smooth and precise gear shifts. The intuitive gear changes offer combined responsiveness of a manual transmission with the hassle-free operation of an automatic. This lets the driver experience both relaxed cruise or spirited drive experience as desired.
Unlike a conventional five-speed automatic, the XUV500 gets six-gears that offer higher number of gear ratios. The vehicle continues to be powered by 2179cc Hawk140 Diesel, 5th Generation Variable Geometry Turbocharger (VGT) engine that generates about 138bhp and 330Nm of torque. In terms of features, it comes with 6-airbags, premium black and beige interiors, 7-inch touchscreen infotainment, 6-way power adjustable driver seat, ESP, Hill Hold and Hill Descent control, electric sunroof and reverse parking camera with Dynamic assist.
