The upcoming 2018 Mahindra XUV500 has been spotted on test in India. The facelift model is expected to get a power boost over its predecessors and also get a fresh set of cosmetic upgrades. The XUV500 last received a facelift back in 2015 and currently faces competition from the likes of Tata Hexa and the Jeep Compass in India.

Although the XUV500 test mule is heavily camouflaged, it still reveals a few bits like new headlamps with double barrel projector lights, redesigned grille and revised taillamps. As for the rear, the new model is expected to get mildly tweaked taillamps, redesigned bumper and cladding. The sides appeal more like the current generation model except for the newly designed alloy wheels. As for features, it is believed that the 2018 model will be offered with new touchscreen infotainment system, automatic climate control and rear parking camera.

Mechanically, the 2018 XUV500 will continue to be powered by a 2.2-litre mHawk diesel engine. However, this time around it is expected to generate a higher power output figure of about 170bhp and 400Nm of torque. The current generation model generates 140bhp of power and 330Nm of torque. The SUV might be offered in six-speed manual and automatic transmission options. More details about the vehicle will be known in the days to come.
