The SUV, XUV 500 from Indian car-maker Mahindra's production line has been a style icon ever since it was launched in September 2011. News has been doing rounds that the car-maker has been working on launching the Sportz Limited Edition Model of XUV 500. Recent spy pictures and brochure of XUV500 Sportz Limited Edition on the Internet hint on a possible launch soon. The new vehicle has been rechristened as 'XUV 500 Sportz'. The vehicle is stated to be based on the top-of-the-line trim in XUV 500 i.e the W8 range and is likely to sport few cosmetic changes that will vary it from the standard model.
The engine specification has been left untouched in the upcoming Sportz Limited Edition of XUV and the SUV is shall be continued to be powered by 2179CC, mHawk140, Direct injection diesel engine 5th generation Variable Geometry Turbo charger (VGT) engine that generates an impressive 140 Bhp of power with 330 Nm of torque. The powerful engine is mated to a six speed synchro-mesh manual gear box. The Indian car-maker boasts of Intelligent All Wheel Drive technology that has been developed by Borg Warner that ensures you are always in control of the vehicle irrespective of heavy rainfall, slippery surfaces or snowfall situations. The SUV is based on Monocoque construction that delivers a good power to weight ratio, dream-like handling and undiluted driving pleasure. Mahindra has also recently showcased a hybrid version of its popular car.
The interiors of XUV500 Sportz Limited Edition shall feature leather seats. On the feature front, the limited edition Sportz variant is likely to come equipped with an array of comfort, convenience and safety features. The new SUV might as well receive a new infotainment display system, automatic wipers and head lights. Among the safety features airbags could also be equipped in the vehicle, apart from these the vehicle may also receive additional set of interesting features.
The Sportz Edition of XUV 500 shall be launched in limited numbers for the local market. Details on the Pricing aspect is not known for now and shall only be known post the launch of the Sportz Edition. As a part of cosmetic touch ups, the SUV is also expected to come up with special decals red colored accents that could be seen around the door handles, fog lamps, alloy wheels and roof rails. Being the limited edition model, Mahindra will also affix special badges on the vehicle.
During the February held Auto Expo event in the country, Mahindra had also showcased the hybrid version of the XUV 500. If launched, the SUV shall be the world's first diesel hybrid car. The Hybrid version of XUV 500 is powered by Lithium ion battery as well as a diesel fuel type engine. The electric motor assists the diesel powered engine while accelerating and regenerative braking pattern is used to recharge the batteries as and when the brakes are applied. Technologically the car boasts of interesting advanced features like a Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor. Its fuel economy rating is definitely on the positive side.
