Mahindra is planning to build the new generation Mahindra Scorpio 2020 and this time, Mahindra is aiming at the American as well as European markets to expand their base. The Scorpio has been Mahindra’s star, helping the Indian carmaker become the third largest car-seller in the country at one point of time. Mahindra has, from time to time, worked to better the Scorpio, and this time, it is in the hands of the North American division of Mahindra.

The current architecture of the chassis will be enhanced rather than going for an entirely new platform as the existing platform was already developed from scratch. Instead, this time, global tastes and sensibilities are expected to reflect in the new Scorpio, thus making it a much better product overall.

The new Scorpio will also spawn a pick-up truck just like the Mahindra Getaway we have had in India. Rajan Wadhera, president of the automotive division at Mahindra, has confirmed that work on the new Scorpio, codenamed Z101, has already begun with the American division spearheading the project and the Indian research and development centre in Chennai backing them up with design and integration.

The Z101 is the second project being led by the American division after the U321 project which aims to build a rival to the Innova. The early prototypes of this car have already been spotted while testing. The new Mahindra MPV will come in 2018 while the all-new Scorpio might debut at the Auto Expo 2020.
