In a move to deliver stiff competition to the dominance of established brands like Maruti Suzuki Swift DZire and Honda Amaze, auto major Mahindra & Mahindra has recently introduced a compact version of its Verito sedan, named Verito Vibe. The model has been equipped with a performance oriented Renault engine, which is expected to set new standards in the respective segment.
In order to cater the demands of a large section of society, Verito Vibe has been offered in three different variants, which are all powered by the diesel engine. While launching the model in Mumbai, the President (Automotive Division) at Mahindra & Mahindra, Pawan Goenka said that the auto maker is also looking ahead to introduce petrol and electric guise of the hatchback too. The 1.5 litre engine of Verito Vibe offers a fuel efficiency of 20.8 kmpl, which seems to be quite overwhelming for the price sensitive Indian buyers.
Within a price bracket of Rs. 5.6 lakh and Rs. 6.5 lakh (ex-showroom Mumbai), Verito Vibe seems to be a more value for proportion model in the Indian auto market against other cars of the same segment. It must be noted that although Mahindra & Mahindra manufactures every SUV in the Indian auto industry, its market share in the space reduced from 56 per cent in fiscal 2012 to 48 per cent in 2013 financial year.
On the new model, the company official said that he is much confident that the new model will set new standards in the compact car segment. Goenka further added that the auto maker is presently rolling out 2,500- 3,000 units of Verito in a month, but if the demand increases, the production will be increased to 4,500 units. It must be noted that the Vibe is more economical than Maruti Suzuki Swift DZire and Toyota Etios in terms of money by Rs. 40,000 and Rs. 97,000, respectively.
