Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M) has pulled the covers off its highly anticipated facelifted Xylo. The look of the Multi Purpose Vehicle (MPV) has also been changed by the car maker, while the interiors have become plusher as compared to the earlier version. Its most notable feature is the innovative Voice Command Technology that allows drivers to carry out simple operations through voice-based commands.

The exteriors of new Xylo feature a floating roof and crease lines that make it sportier than its predecessor. The grille is, as expected, reminiscent of the one used in XUV 500, though its slats are comparatively sleeker. Streamlined bonnet, refreshed headlamps, chrome tipped body mouldings, sporty air dams, new body decals and prominent wheel arches are the notable exteriors features of the 2012 Xylo. Its Voice Command Technology allows users to send simple voice commands for turning the headlights on or off, locking or unlocking doors, opening fuel lid and indicating safety concerns.

Some of the prominent interior features of the new Xylo are individual AC vents for rear passengers, foldable snack trays, laptop and mobile charging points and ample number of storage spaces. Quality leather upholstery, 2-DIN music system, dual tone dashboard, refreshed door trims and a shiny wood-finished console are also present in the car. Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) with Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD), two SRS airbags, Intellipark reverse assist system and Extra Stability Technology (EST) are some of the safety features of the new Xylo. The suspensions of all variants have been improved for better stability under adverse driving conditions.

New Xylo's top end variant, called E9, is powered by a 2.2 L mHawk CRDi engine that produces peak power of 120 bhp and maximum torque of 280 Nm. The fuel efficiency of this appealing car is around 14 kmpl. Buyers can choose between the mEagle and mDI CRDe engine options for the other variants of the vehicle. A total of 7 variants of the car will be presented by the manufacturer in India within the price range of Rs. 7.37 lacs and Rs. 10.25 lacs (Ex-Showroom Delhi). M&M will be rolling out this new version of the Xylo in the domestic market in two phases and pit it against the new Innova.
