The mighty Mahindra Xylo will reach the end of its life very soon and is expected to be replaced the car that we see in the photos which is the new TUV300 Plus. The car has been spotted doing the rounds quite a few times and is expected to be launched in India later this year.

The pictures show that it will be an extended version of the TUV300 and is likely to measure the same proportions as the outgoing Xylo. However, with the MPV body style no longer generating interest, Mahindra has decided to GO for a lengthy version of its TUV300 to keep its place in the now niche people carrier segment. Well, niche is a relative term here as the Xylo is still popular in the fleet market and this extended TUV300 is expected to pick up where the Xylo has left off.

The car that was spotted in the photos is a base P4 variant with sports black bumpers, steel wheels and a very bare bones beige and black interiors where the only major feature appears to be an AC unit. However, we expect the higher spec models to mimic the standard TUV300 in terms of features.

The biggest change will be that this LWB TUV300 will be powered by the mHawk D120 1.99-litre diesel engine. This is the mill that Mahindra introduced last year to comply the with the 2.0-litre engine rules in the NCR and has now decided to make use of its everywhere. It produces 138bhp/320Nm with a six-speed manual. There is also a six-speed AT but is likely that gearbox will stay on only for their flagship XUV500.

The TUV300 will come into a price range where you get premium hatchbacks, compact SUVs and even the lower variants of some of the C-segment sedans.
