      Mahindra to roll-out Ssangyong SUV in India next year

      The leading Indian auto maker Mahindra & Mahindra has said that the firm will be rolling-out a new sports utility vehicle (SUV) from the portfolio of its South Korean Subsidiary Ssangyong by next year. It is to be mentioned here that the firm is also all set to launch an all new global SUV in the Indian auto market in December 2011.

      Mahindra had acquired the bankrupt South Korean Ssangyong in February 2011 after being selected as the preferred bidder by the Ssangyong management.

      Speaking to reporters on Monday in the National Capital on Monday, Vivek Nayer, senior vice president, marketing, automotive division, Mahindra & Mahindra, said, "Some of SsangYong SUVs will come by middle of next year, after the 'XUV 500' which will come by December."

      At present, the main focus of the company are its popular utility vehicles including Bolero, Xylo and Scorpio. The only sedan model of the company in the country – Verito – is also in the focus of the company right now. According to Mr. Nayer, "Currently, we are focusing on our core brands of Scorpio, Bolero and Xylo and trying to grow other brands such as Verito and pick-up truck Maxximo."

      The sales of Verito sedan have been revamped to 1,710 units per month as compared to earlier figures of 300 units per month. The company will soon be rolling out a four meter long Verito in the Indian market.

      Total sales of the company stood at 37,684 units in the month of August as compared to 28,903 units sold in the same month last year.
