After a series of spyshots and speculation about Mahindra's electric Verito, the carmaker will now finally launch the e-Verito for the Indian market. The prices of the electric vehicle will be announced onJune 2at an event in Delhi.

Mahindra had showcased the e-Verito at the Auto Expo this year and revealed the details then. It is a fully electric vehicle based on the Verito sedan. The standard Verito’s engine is replaced by an electric AC motor that delivers 29kW (39bhp) of power. This is different from the 19kW motor that powers the e2o hatchback. However, the chassis and body is straightway carried over from the Verito sedan. This electric car can do a top speed of 86kmph and run for 100kms on a full charge. It takes six hours to avail the full range, while a quick charge takes two hours.

Cosmetically, the e-Verito will be same as the existing Verito sedan apart from some stickering. It will get additional 'Automatic', 'Powered by Reva', 'ME' and 'Electric' badges to set it apart from the regular car. The other changes include low resistance tyres and some tweaks to the interior.

The Mahindra e-Verito will be offered in three variants - D2, D4 and D6. We expect the base variant to be priced less than Rs 8 lakh, which will make it a thought-provoking proposition. It will also be interesting to see how the Indian buyers will take this electric car with no noise and an environment-friendly powertrain. Hopefully, the government's incentives on electric and hybrid cars should push the sales of the Mahindra e-Verito.
