Mahindra to launch new passenger commercial vehicle with alternative fuel

Mahindra & Mahindra, the largest utility vehicle maker in the country, is gearing-up to launch new alternative fuel run commercial passenger vehicles in the Indian market soon. At present, the company sells Maxximo Mini Van in the segment of four-wheel passenger commercial vehicles.

Speaking to reporters in Chennai, Mahindra and Mahindra Ltd Automotive Division, Vice-President (Sales) Vijay Nakra said, "Yes, vehicles equipped with alternative fuels (like CNG and LPG) variants will be launched on the Mahindra Maxximo Minivan platform." Nakra was in the city for unveiling the Maximo Mini Van in the Tamil Nadu market.

"The BS IV variant will be competitively priced. Our competitors offer both BS III and BS IV variant with a marginal difference in prices. The company will also launch the BS IV variant priced competitively," he said.

While informing about the company’s three wheeler Gio cab, Mahindra and Mahindra General Manager-Marketing (Automotive sector) Mahesh Kulkarni said, "It is right now available in places like Patna and some other Northern pockets. We are yet to launch it in the southern region. We have plans to bring it later." The size of passenger commercial three-wheeler segment is 2,16,856 units a year, he added.
