Mahindra has already stated earlier that it intends to introduce a new compact SUV in India that will be a premium SUV and will be placed above the Mahindra Scorpio. "We will be launching the vehicle in the first quarter of FY12," announced Mahindra and Mahindra's Auto and Farm Equipment Sector's President, Pawan Goenka.

Now the car has been spied testing on the outskirts of Chennai by IAB. The test mule looks more like an MPV rather than a normal SUV but the overall design seems to be more appealing than the existing Scorpio. The front end of the model is much heavier making the tyres look undersized. They even have smaller studs provide a better grip on the road and enhanced manoeuvrability. The dashboard is better looking than any of the existing models giving a refined look to the vehicle. There is definitely more legroom and the third row could seat three people comfortably. However, seat contours and headrests were not quite impressive.

The exhaust has been blended with the rear bumper. This resembles the look of the BMW X6. On the whole, the new look foretells Mahindra’s attempt to provide a facelift to its future models. "We are betting on the Indian market and feel that things will only head up from here and we feel there would be a demand for the kind of quality and comfort which we are offering," Pawan Goenka added to his announcement.
