      Mahindra to Enter the Small Car Segment

      Mahindra and Mahindra is aiming to enter the small car segment in India. It has already acquired stake in Reva Electric Company to introduce an eco-friendly car in its product portfolio. The company is aiming to invest over Rs. 1000 crore in India to diversify into small car segment.

      M&M is aiming to bring its small car in India by 2013-14 which will be priced in a bandwidth of Rs. 2-5 lakh. M&M is building a new platform and new cars codenamed as S101, S102, S103 and S104 are likely to roll out from it.

      The small car will be designed by Italian car design studio Stile Bertone that initially designed Xylo for the Indian market. M&M intends to compete with Tata Motors which is performing well in the Indian market. It is also coming up with mini-SUV or smaller Xylo model for the Indian market.
