Many international and domestic automakers have been investing more time and resources in development of compact SUVs owing to its growing demand in the Indian market. This time around Ssangyong has brought in two units of Tivoli compact SUV in India for research and development process. The model is expected to strengthen its position in India with the new addition and offer more choice apart from the Rexton line in the country.
In India, SsangYong has been trying to strengthening its presence via country's popular utility vehicle maker Mahindra and Mahindra. The petrol version gets a 1.6-litre, 4-cylinder petrol engine that effectively generates about 124bhp of power, while the diesel version gets 1.6-litre 4-cylinder diesel engine that generates about 113bhp of power.
In terms of dimensions, the SsangYong Tivoli measures 4,195 mm in length, 1,590 mm in height, 1,795 mm in width and a wheelbase of about 2,600 mm. The units imported in the country have reportedly arrived with a declared value of Rs 7.55 Lakh and Rs 8.44 Lakh and if launched it could be priced around the same range.
