Mahindra & Mahindra is ready to take the covers off the new iteration of Xylo today at New Delhi, the national capital. The car is highly anticipated because everyone wants to see the new and improved look of the Multi Purpose Vehicle (MPV) that had been popular only because of its comfort features and performance. Its price is expected to be more than that of the current model's.

The new edition of Mahindra's MPV has an updated front end, with a new grille that is inspired from XUV 500; nudge guards; revised bonnet; and modified headlamps as the notable changes. It has received all-black pillars, black lining on wheel arches and body mouldings on the sides. Xylo's rear has also been modified slightly, especially the revised tail light lamp cluster. Considering that the MPV was appreciated for its interiors, not many changes are expected in the interiors of this 7 seater.

According to reports, the facelifted Xylo will feature a 2.5 L, 3 cylinder mEagle diesel motor that is capable of generating 70 bhp power and 170 Nm torque. There is speculation that the company has made a 4X4 version of the MPV, thereby giving the country its first MPV with off-roading capabilities. New Xylo's third row will have two small seats meant for children and its spare wheel will be mounted on the fifth door.

The MPV segment is growing at a fast pace in India, attracting all major car makers. With the facelifted Xylo, Mahindra will take on the likes of new Toyota Innova, Maruti Suzuki Ertiga, Nissan Evalia, Premier Rio and Ashok Leyland Stile. Concept models like Chevrolet MPV and Hyundai Hexa Space, which are currently being developed, will further intensify the competition in the segment upon launch.
