Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M), the biggest Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) manufacturer of the country, completed the XUV 500 draw on 14th February 2012. The company selected a total of 7200 winners who had booked the company’s latest SUV out of a total of 25000 applicants in the second stage of bookings for the vehicle. The car maker had to put bookings on hold due to demand for the model exceeding supply and had restarted taking orders for the car for 10 days, starting on 25th January 2012 with overwhelming response.

It had begun taking orders from 19 cities, Mumbai, Delhi, Chennai, Bangalore, Pune, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Ahmedabad, Chandigarh / Panchkula, Ludhiana, Jallandhar, Patiala, Kochi, Trivandrum, Calicut, Trissur, Coimbatore, Nagpur and Nasik. This city-wise draw was Mahindra’s way of making sure that all individuals who had applied for the car had equal chances of receiving it.

Dealerships based in the 19 cities are responsible for intimating the news to all winners of the draw. The company itself will upload the list of winners on its website www.mahindra xuv 500.com after 5:00pm on 15th February 2012. A toll free line, phone number 1800- 266-7000, has also been set up by M&M for individuals who wish to know the status of their applications. The company has said that the Rs. 80,000 booking amount will be refunded to the applicants who were not selected after the draw.

Mahindra had to resort to this draw as the total number applications was much more than the number of cars it could deliver in the near future, thereby keeping its waiting list as short as possible. With 7200 deliveries to be made, the manufacturer has ensured that customers will not have to wait too long for their XUV 500. Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu India Pvt. Ltd. (DTTIPL) authenticated the draw process for XUV 500 under the terms and conditions agreed upon by the two companies.
