      Mahindra Scorpio facelift launched priced at Rs 7.98 lakh

      Mahindra has launched thoroughly tweaked version of its popular SUV Scorpio in India today in a total of six variants namely- S2, S4, S6, S6 Plus, S8 and S10. Priced between Rs 7.98 lakh to Rs 11.46 lakh (ex-showroom Mumbai), the new gen Scorpio has been rolled out in two engine options. A 4WD variant will be put on offer in a few weeks, however there is yet no probability of an automatic variant. Copious changes have been made on the outside and inside of the vehicle, in fact in its long itinerary of 12 years this is by far the most comprehensive tweak given to Scorpio SUV. The SUV gets low turning radius of 5.4 m, offers improved drivability and decreased NVH levels.

      The SUV underpins a newly developed platform. Nothing has changed mechanically; Scorpio continues to drive power from the same set of engine. Power comes from a 2.5 litre, four cylinder, m2DiCr diesel engine housed in basic variants of the SUV. High end trims are employed with the 2.2 litre mHawk diesel powertrain engendering 120 Bhp along with 290 Nm. The engine is paired to a new 320 MT five-speed manual gearbox. Fuel economy offered by the SUV has been improved by 37 per cent at 15.37 kmpl. Two new colour options have been added to new Scorpio range including Molten Red and Regal Blue.

      The basic S2 variant gets features like power steering, power windows, fabric upholstery, 15-inch steel wheels, air conditioner and a few others. This trim is devoid of passenger entertainment and connectivity equipment along with prominent safety features such as ABS and others.

      S4 on the other hand along with aforementioned features also gets additional features like tilt adjustable steering wheel, 17 inch steel wheels affixed to the flared wheel arches. However entertainment and vital safety features are also missing in this trim.

      The mid-level S6 variant comes loaded with additional goodies including 2-DIN music system sliding middle row seats, rear wiper and defogger, body coloured bumpers, door handles and bumpers, rear spoiler among others. S6 Plus placed a notch above S6 gets dual airbags as extra equipment as compared to S6.

      Placed above S6 Plus, S8 variant comes equipped with fog lamps in the front that enables enhanced visibility in foggy weather, other equipment incorporated in the vehicle include electrically adjustable outside rear view mirrors, projector headlamps, silver skid plate and voice assisted system. Wheel arches have been fitted to a redesigned 17 inch alloy wheels. Significant safety and security features such as rear parking sensors, airbags for driver and co-passenger, Anti-Lock-Braking system among others are embedded in the S8 trim.

      Features exquisite to the range topping S10 variant comprise of multi-functional steering wheel with audio and cruise controls, a new 6-inch touch-screen infotainment system with GPS, height adjuster for the driver’s seat and chrome finishing around the AC vents. Other preeminent features have also been fitted to the S10 trim like projector headlights, follow me home headlamps, tyre pressure monitoring system, rain and light sensors, ABS, dual airbags and a several others. A micro hybrid technology will be offered on the base S2 and high end S10 variants.
