The new and updated 2017 Mahindra Scorpio is here. The SUV gets a tweaked fascia, redesigned headlights and tail lights and a reworked bumper. The mid-life update comes as the first change for the SUV since its introduction in 2015. Here is a list of all the cars that you can buy for the price of new Mahindra Scorpio.

      2017-Mahindra-Scorpio

At Rs 9.97 lakhs, for the price of the S3 Scorpio, you can get yourself fully loaded, top-spec compact sedans like the Maruti Dzire ZDI+ AMT, Honda Amaze VX or Volkswagen Ameo Highline1.5L AT (D). And if you opt for the petrol variants of these compact sedans, you can even save nearly a lakh worth of rupees. Interestingly, the top-spec Tata Nexon XZ+ or the segment leader Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza ZDi+ can be had for the price of the entry-level Scorpio.

The S5 trim retails at Rs 11.62 lakhs. In this budget, you can either look at the top-spec of Maruti’s MPV, the Ertiga ZDI+ SHVS, the newly updated Ford EcoSport Titanium+ or the S-Cross Alpha. If practicality is what you are looking for, the Renault Lodgy RXZ Stepway is a good choice at this price point. Or if you want to remain in the Mahindra stable, the top-spec Xylo can be had at the same price as well.

The S7 variant of the Scorpio comes with two output choices – 120bhp and 140bhp – and retails between Rs 12-13 lakhs. In this price bracket, you can get your hands on the premium C-segment sedans like the Maruti Suzuki Ciaz, Honda City, Hyundai Verna or the Volkswagen Vento. These sedans are feature laden and are better to drive than the ladder-on-frame Scorpio. But you’ll miss out on the road-presence of the imposing SUV. However, the high-riding Renault Duster, Nissan Terrano, or the Honda BR-V can get you the ground clearance that the C-segment sedans dream of.

If you are planning to GO for the S11 variant of the Scorpio, the Rs 14.79 lakhs price tag can get you the segment-leader Hyundai Creta in the SX+ AT guise, or the newly launched Renault Captur Platine diesel. Now at this price point, you can also indulge in the luxury of entry-level D-segment sedans like the Hyundai Elantra, Volkswagen Jetta, and Toyota Corolla Altis. Between the S7 and S11 variant, you can be a little wild and get yourself the only lifestyle pick-up on sale in India – Isuzu D-Max V-Cross

Moving up to the top-spec fully-loaded Scorpio S11 4WD trim at Rs 16.01 lakhs, you can grab the trending Jeep Compass in the base Sport guise. The GX or VX variant of the formidable Innova Crysta can also get you a proper seven- or eight-seater with automatic transmission. The Scorpio’s modern stablemate – the XUV500 W10 -

is also a stylish SUV you can opt for. The direct rival, Tata Hexa XT 4x4, is a also just a lakh more than the 4x4 Scorpio.
