Mahindra’s S101 (XUV100) mini SUV, on test for quite a long time, has been snapped again. The new interior image reveals the dashboard design and steering wheel of the vehicle. Inside the cabin, the car gets lots of chrome here and there. The centre console gets rectangular air-conditioner vents, vertical chromed dials arrangement with piano black accent. The door panels, too, feature piano black and silver appliques. There is an infotainment system that houses a small display. The mini SUV is likely to come with 3+3 seating configuration, and front bench-type seat. The dash-mounted gear lever will provide enough space for the third occupant of the front seat.

Talking about the engine, the Mahindra S101 will be powered by an all-new 1.2-litre, three-cylinder petrol engine that has been developed with joint efforts of the home-grown carmaker and Ssangyong. This engine will be matched with a five-speed manual transmission, combined with FWD (front-wheel drive) system. A 1.5-litre diesel engine and an AMT (automated manual transmission) might also be on offer. For safety purpose, the Mahindra’s upcoming compact SUV could be equipped with electronic brake-force distribution (EBD), anti-lock braking system (ABS) and electronic stability program (ESP).

The Mahindra S101 will be positioned below the new Quanto, and likely to be priced around Rs. 4 lakh– Rs. 6.5 lakh (ex-showroom). At this price, the mini SUV will compete against the Ford EcoSport, Maruti Suzuki Wagon R and Tata’s upcoming Nexon.
