      Mahindra's Nasik based facility witnesses disruption in production following fire incident

      The Nasik based manufacturing unit of the country’s largest utility vehicle maker, Mahindra & Mahindra, witnessed a complete disruption of the production process following a major fire broke out on Wednesday morning. There are no reports of any casualties in this incident.

      While informing about the incident, a company spokesman said on Wednesday, "The fire was contained to within the logistics area of Scorpio unit and within the plant premises. Importantly, there have been no injuries to any company personnel. As a safety measure though, the operations in the plant have been suspended for only the first shift of the day."

      The production capacity at this plant is about 350 units per day, where the company produces a range of passenger utility vehicles including Mahindra Bolero, Xylo and Scorpio. The only passenger sedan in the company’s portfolio, Mahindra Verito, is also being produced at this plant. After the fire incident, the company suspended the first production shift at this plant.

      Mahindra & Mahindra, which is currently examining the cause of this incident and also looking at the extent of damage due to this fire at the premises of this facility, has said that it strictly follows all safety protocols and norms at this facility.
