Mahindra Reva is looking at launching products in Europe sometime next year. "Europe is a very interesting space for us. We are looking at launching our products sometime in calendar year 2016 in the European market," Jagan Kurian, Mahindra Reva Electric Vehicles Vice President (Sales and Marketing) told reporters at the end of Reva’s Kashmir Kanyakumari drive.

He mentioned that these vehicles will be complete electric vehicles that will be exported to Europe. He said "We see a product space there, we are looking at the ecosystem which is evolving, and we feel Europe to be the better place to be in 2016.”

The Mahindra Verito is also going to be made available with an electric powertrain. This could be one of the models that will be exported. Kurian did not state anything or hint at anything on which models might be making their way to Europe.

Kurian met reporters when the Mahindra Reva Goodness Drive came to an end. For this expedition, three Mahindra e20s were driven covering 5300kms and 52 locations. About 30 per cent of the cars sold in US, Europe and China are electric and even Japan is eight to nine per cent.

At the moment, Mahindra Reva’s plant in Bangalore has a capacity of 30,000 units and this will be sufficient for exports too. Mahindra Reva is available in eight cities across the country at the moment. "We are looking at a few markets and are talking to local governments... local tax structure is very important for this product..." he added.
