      Mahindra reports strong sales of over 1 lakh pick up vehicles

      Mahindra & Mahindra Limited, the country's leading utility vehicle manufacturer, has witnessed over 1 lakh sales of its pick up fleet in the domestic market during the 2012-13 financial year. As per reports, the company saw its sales jumping up by 41 per cent at 1,02,885 units last fiscal, as compared to just 73,134 units in the year-ago period. The latest numbers are remarkable as they are the highest ever recorded by Mahindra & Mahindra since its inception. Interestingly, the utility vehicle maker had a wonderful last year in the passenger vehicle market with its XUV500, Quanto and Xylo models managing some impressive sales throughout 2012.

      Expressing his delight on the impressive sales performance given by the company's pick up range, Pravin Shah, Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Automotive Sector, Mahindra & Mahindra Limited was quoted as saying, “Crossing the 1 lakh milestone of Pick ups in a financial year is a proud moment for us and we are thankful to the customers for patronizing the Mahindra Pick up brand. Today Mahindra has the widest range in this segment to cater to the varied needs of cargo transportation. Having set new benchmarks in style, comfort, convenience and technology, our brands in the Pick up segment are popular since they offer enormous value to the customers.”

      Reportedly, Mahindra & Mahindra enjoyed a 54 per cent share in the segment during 2012-13 fiscal and sells more than 15,000 units every month on a routine basis in the country. The utility vehicle maker had introduced several firsts in the pick up market, such as AC and CNG kit equipped pick up models, along with the Micro Hybrid pick up as well. At present, Mahindra & Mahindra's pick up portfolio comprises four products, namely Bolero Pick Up, Bolero Maxi Truck, Bolero Camper and Genio. The company claims to offer the strongest pick up vehicles fleet in the industry, which are quite popular for cargo transportation and several other uses.
