      Mahindra planning to launch AMT-equipped cars in India

      Mahindra & Mahindra, the homegrown automaker is readying a series of new vehicles for the highly competitive Indian market. At the 2014 Delhi Motor Show, Mahindra showcased the Quanto AMT which is likely to be launched by the mid-2015. Interestingly, the maker is aiming to add more AMT-equipped cars to its lineup. The two compact SUVs- the S101 micro SUV and the U301 Bolero SUV will go on sale in the country by the year end.

      If reports are to be believed, the maker is planning to add AMT-equipped variant to the U301 Bolero SUV. The U301 SUV will be positioned as mini Bolero to further capitalize on the high fan following for the Bolero SUV in the country. The compact SUV has been spotted testing several times on Indian roads. To be offered in diesel version only, the SUV is likely to get the same 1.5-litre diesel engine that also powers the Quanto. Both manual version and automatic versions of the SUV will be on offer, and is likely to be offered in two wheel drive option.

      The S101 micro SUV might also get AMT (Automated Manual Transmission) option. However, the compact SUV will be a six seater, which offers seating capacity for six adults in 3+3 layout. The vehicle will get a bench type front row seats to accommodate three passengers including driver. This mini SUV will be offered in two engine options- 1.2-litre petrol and 1.5-litre diesel.
