      Mahindra Marazza

The Mahindra U321 has been spotted testing on several occasions now. This time around, Mahindra has officially christened their MPV as the Marazzo. Derived from Basque, a sublanguage of Spanish, the word ‘Marazzo’ translates to shark and is due for launch in India in September. Apart from disclosing the name, the company has also hinted at the features that can be expected from the upcoming model. Read below to find out more on the top five highlights for the Mahindra Marazzo

      Shark-inspired design element

The Marazzo has a distinctive shark-inspired design philosophy that is evident from its aerodynamic and streamlined design. The MPV gets an intimidating front look with shark-teeth like chrome grille inserts. The rear section, on the other hand, is highlighted by shark-tail like tail lamps. The vehicle also features shark-fin antennae to complete its overall aesthetics.

      Interior

The utility car manufacturer has also disclosed a few interior details. The cabin comes with a purple cluster illumination, premium leatherette seats and industry first surround cool air conditioning system. At the time of launch, the vehicle will be available in seven and eight seat layout options.

      New platform

The Mahindra Marazzo is based on an all-new platform with the largest footprint measuring 47.5sq.ft. The globally developed product has been engineered through a collaboration between Mahindra North American Technical Centre (MNATC) and Mahindra Research Valley (MRV) in Chennai. The company claims that the Marazzo comes with a patented architecture to offer a unique balance of smooth ride, agile handling, space and a quiet cabin.

      Engine

Although Mahindra has revealed that the Marazzo will be offered with a new engine option, details for the same are yet to be revealed. We believe that it might be a 1.6-litre diesel engine that the company has been working on for quite some time now. The engine is expected to come mated to a six-speed manual and an optional six-speed automatic transmission.

      Price and competition

Mahindra Marazzo is expected to be priced between Rs 10-15 lakhs. It will compete against the likes of the Tata Hexa, Toyota Innova Crysta, Maruti Suzuki Ertiga and the Honda BR-V.
