Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M), one of the largest automobile manufacturers in India, launched its new Xylo MPV on 8th February, 2012 in Mumbai. During the event, M&M revealed news regarding the launch of the upcoming Mahindra Xylo Mini. As per reports, company would launch its most anticipated product during the Diwali season.

The new Xylo Mini has been designed to rule the compact MPV segment of India and compete with B-segment hatchbacks. With sufficient seating capacity for 7 passengers, the new product will attract family car buyers. According to sources, the new Mahindra Xylo Mini would be lesser than 4 meters in length, making it eligible for low excise duty. The exemption on excise duty will allow Mahindra & Mahindra to keep the price of Xylo Mini to a minimum, directly benefiting Indian customers.

The 1.5 L, detuned, common railed turbocharged version of Scorpio's 2.2 L mHawk diesel engine will probably be equipped in the new Xylo Mini. It is anticipated that the car will come with this 1.5 L diesel engine as well as a 1200 cc, 3 cylinder petrol unit in the country. By launching the petrol edition of Xylo Mini with its diesel variant, Mahindra will be able to increase the market share of the car in India manifolds.

M&M is also planning to produce a top end variant with seating capacity for 5 occupants. This variant will be assimilated with features like Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD) and airbags. Reva NXR, a fully electric model, would also be launched by the manufacturer in coming months in India.
