      Mahindra & Mahindra's Q4 operating profit increased by 42 per cent

      Mahindra and Mahindra Limited, the country's largest utility vehicle maker, has declared the financial results for the fourth quarter, ended March 31, 2013. Mahindra Vehicle Manufacturers Limited, based at Chakan near Pune, is a completely owned subsidiary of the Mahindra Group and is used for sourcing the contemporary products. The gross revenues and other income of Mahindra Vehicle Manufacturers Limited and Mahindra & Mahindra Limited for the fourth quarter of last fiscal was Rs. 11342.3 crore, with a growth of 9.8 per cent, over Rs. 10333.6 crore reported in the year ago period.

      During the period, the profit before exceptional items and tax stood at Rs. 1230.4 crore, marking a growth of 41.8 per cent as against Rs. 868.0 crore in the corresponding period of last year. The operating margin for both entities was 14.4 per cent as against 12 per cent reported in the fourth quarter of fiscal 2012. In the passenger utility vehicle segment, the company delivered 72076 units during the period with an increase of 23 per cent under the review of units sold in the corresponding period of last year. This growth was mainly achieved because of strong performance of company's utility vehicles, which also facilitated the auto maker in continuing its dominant position with a share of 47.8 per cent in the market.

      During the year ended on March 31, 2013, the other incomes and gross revenues of Mahindra & Mahindra stood at Rs. 43961.8 crore, marking a growth of 26.3 per cent over Rs. 34820.3 crore reported in the year ago period. For the current year, the net profit after exceptional items and tax is Rs. 3352.8 crore (growth of 16.5 per cent) against Rs. 2878.9 crore in 2012.
