Mahindra’s SUV, the XUV 500 has been launched in Australia in its automatic avatar. The car will be built in India and exported to Australia where it will join the manual XUV, which is already on sale.

The automatic XUV 500 will be available in two variants. The 2WD W8 variant which will be priced at $31,900 (15.65 lakh) and the AWD W8 version costing $34,900 (17.1 lakh). Mahindra has sourced the automatic gearbox from AISIN, a Japanese company. The gearbox is fast, precise and reliable. The XUV will continue to house the 2.2L m-Hawk diesel motor which churns out 140bhp of power and 330Nm of torque. Australian models will also get all black interiors as opposed to the black and beige combination interiors on the XUV being sold here.
The XUV 500 has proven to be a very successful model for Mahindra and it remains one of the best selling SUVs around. Its combination of good looks, a powerful diesel motor and a feature-packed interior proved to be very popular with Indian consumers.
