      Mahindra launches Sankalp initiative on National Safety Day

      Mahindra has commenced a new initiative as a part of its corporate social responsibility, called ‘Sankalp’. March 4, also marked as the National Safety Day in India, therefore the commencement of the CSR initiative was deliberately conducted on that day.

      The corporate social responsibility program started on March 4th, 2014 at the Bandra-Worli-Sea-link. Mr. BK Upadhyay Upadhyay (Jt. commissioner traffic dept) and Mr. Qaiser Khalid (ACP traffic dept) from the traffic department and Mr. Rajeshwar Tripathi, Chief People Officer, Automotive & Farm Equipment Sectors, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd were present at the time of launch of CRS initiative.

      The objective behind this initiative is to provide Mumbai traffic police with better safety equipments. Under this initiative, the home grown auto maker, Mahindra will provide traffic personnel across Mumbai with safety equipments like nose marks (which will be replaced twice a month), fluorescent jackets with reflective tape and protective helmets. 600 traffic cops stationed between Worli sea-link and Dahisar check naka will be given the special safety equipments. Later, the company will facilitate same safety equipments to traffic cops stationed between Worli and Churchgate.

      Mahindra’s initiative will boast moral of the traffic police across Mumbai and help them to enhance work efficiency too. In the coming time, through this initiative, the company will extend its hand in improving the infrastructure at the police stations. Washrooms for both the genders will be built, clean drinking water facility will be provided and solar lamps will also be arranged.
