Mahindra has launched their all-new MPV, christened as the Marazzo, for the price tag of Rs 9.99 lakhs (Introductory All-India, ex-showroom). Codenamed the U321 during its development phase, the Marazzo is a seven-seater positioned in the premium bracket of the people-mover segment with a shark-inspired design. It is the first product to be developed through a collaboration between Mahindra Automotive North America, Pininfarina and Mahindra design centre in Chennai. There are four variants with only diesel power across six colour options.
It gets the Mahindra signature vertically slatted grille and wrap-around headlamps and is a ladder-on-frame construction. The flared wheel arches along with the angled shoulder-line accentuate its size while the massive vertical fin-like tail lamps dominate the chrome-laced rear.
On the inside, the black and pearl white interior looks roomy and it gets a bespoke twin-pod instrument cluster backlit with a unique purple shade. Automatic climate control, touchscreen display, steering mounted audio controls, auto-folding mirrors are all part of the feature list depending upon the trims. It will be offered in four variants M2, M4, M6 and M8 and all the variants will have all around disc brakes, ABS with EBD and dual front airbags as standard along with speed-sensing door locks, emergency calling function and ISOFIX child-seat mounts. The Marrazo can be had in a seven-seat and eight-seat configuation depending on the variant.
All the variants will be powered by the 1.5-litre turbocharged diesel four cylinder engine developing 80bhp of power and 300Nm of torque and they will be offered with a six-speed manual to begin with. The engine has been designed by AVL and is a transverse mounted FWD setup. With its pricing, the Marazzo targets both the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga along with the Renault Lodgy and the Honda BR-V.
