      Mahindra launches e2o in Chandigarh with plans to export in 2014

      Mahindra Reva Electric Vehicles, an electric car making arm of the Mahindra Group, has revealed intentions to begin export operations of its e2o model to the European markets in 2014. The announcement came through a company’s top official in Chandigarh on April 22, 2013.

      Informing about the company’s exports plans for the e2o electric hatchback, R. Chandramouli, Chief of Operations at Mahindra Reva Electric Vehicles, was quoted as saying, “We have plans to export Mahindra Reva in Europe from 2014.” He further added, “We are working on the regulatory framework of the European Union for starting export.” Chandramouli was present in Chandigarh for the launch of e2o.

      Mahindra Reva Electric Vehicles is offering an exciting Easy Monthly Instalment (EMI) scheme on purchase of the e2o model, exclusively for its customers in Chandigarh. The Mahindra Reva e2o is available at an EMI of Rs. 12,802 in the city. Interestingly, Chandramouli refused to divulge details regarding the number of advance bookings recorded by the company of e2o from the car enthusiasts of Chandigarh.

      On being enquired about if the state government is providing any subsidy on the purchase of the eco-friendly and zero emission rated e2o electric hatchback, Chandramouli said such subsidies are offered by only Delhi government at the moment. As per reports, Mahindra Reva e2o can be purchased in New Delhi at a 15 per cent subsidy allowed by the government.

      Chandramouli has affirmed that Mahindra Reva Electric Vehicles is targeting big Indian metropolitan cities for driving its e2o sales in the country. He said, “We are targeting metro cities only for promotion of our product.” He further added that for now e2o would be retailed from Mahindra dealerships in the cities where it has been launched.

      Mahindra e2o is powered by lithium ion batteries and boasts of a range of 100 km on a full charge that takes five hours. The car’s most defining feature is its regenerative braking system with which it recharges its battery every time the brakes are applied.
