India’s largest UV maker, Mahindra& Mahindra sprang surprise by spinning off RX6 variant of Ssangyong Rexton SUV. The new trim fills the slot between RX5 and RX7 trims, positioned as the middle end variant of the Rexton SUV, RX6 is available for sale in India at Rs 19.96 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).
Absence of four-wheeled drive system and automatic transmission in RX6 enabled M&M to cut down on the price of the new variant which comes in manual transmission. Being the middle end variant, RX6 has been inherited with some of the features offered on basic model, RX5 and high end version, RX7 making it a viable option for customers. Lack of four wheeled drive system is compensated by torque on demand. Besides the above mentioned features, the new RX6 variant has also been bestowed with exquisite features including an electrical sunroof, an eight-way electrically adjustable driver’s seat that comes with memory function, automatic head lights and rain-sensing wipers.
Under the hood is a 2.7 litre motor which is coupled to a five speed manual transmission. Rexton is among one of the most popular SUVs offered in premium segment, the vehicle managed to make a place for itself in the top selling premium SUVs in fiscal 2013-2014.
Customers have the option to choose from four colour options- Satin White, Volcano Black, Moondust Silver and Opulent Purple. The company is confident that this trim will appeal to many customers as Mahindra has developed it based on customer feedback. RX6 gets top notch premium features, but availability of manual transmission in the trim makes it suitable for the prospective buyers who prefer manual transmission over automatic transmission.
