Utility vehicle segment has always been a strong forte for Mahindra vehicle in the country. Mahindra Bolero reportedly continues to hold the top spot in SUV segment. UV market has been infiltrated with many car-makers in recent times, but despite many new entrants in the UV segment, Mahindra UV's have outnumber the new age vehicles in monthly sales. Bolero’s popularity in domestic market can be inferred with the fact that the UV has been garnering highest sales in UV segment for last four months. Setting an example of ‘Old is Gold’, Mahindra’s Bolero has topped the list of top five selling UVs in the month of July. During fiscal year 2013-14, Mahindra reportedly sold about 51,000 Scorpio SUV's in the Indian market.

This factor seems to have benefited the Indian car-maker in reaching out to a wider set of prospective buyers. Among the facelift launches, Mahindra Scorpio tweaked version is also slated to be spawned during the same time. Besides this, a comprehensively modified version of Bolero is also underway which is likely to be rolled out in 2016. Caught a couple of times undergoing test runs, new Bolero is being developed under the codename, ‘U301’. Speculations suggest that Mahindra could offer new generation Bolero in two body styles- a full grown SUV and a sub-four meter version. Mahindra also plans to unveil its new face-lifted version of Scorpio sometime in the middle of 2014. The changes are expected to be purely cosmetic in nature and the engine shall be retained with the existing line of 2.2 litre M-Hawk turbo diesel engine. It is anticipated that the power and torque figures could be increased from the existing 120 bhp with 290 Nm of torque to 140 bhp and 330 Nm of torque.
