Mahindra & Mahindra, the country's largest utility vehicle maker, announced the brilliant sales figures of its iconic Bolero model, which stands at 6.5 lakh units. Since its introduction in the market in the year 2000, this Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) has stole many hearts amongst the price sensitive Indian buyers. This SUV is known for its sturdiness as well as robustness and has managed to reigned the Indian roads for 13 years. If we talk about the overall annual sales figure, the auto maker has touched 1,00,686 units in fiscal 2012, which later increased to 1,17,665 units in financial year 2013. This profited the vehicle with a hike of 17 per cent and has turned out as the only SUV to dominate the Indian roads. Apparently, for two consecutive years, Bolero managed to stock around 100,000 units.
In light of its presence, Pravin Shah, the Chief Executive of Auto Division at Mahindra & Mahindra, was quoted as saying, "Having sold over 6.5 lakh units since inception and ruling the roads for 13 years, the Bolero has transformed the SUV space in the country. Over the years, the Bolero has been updated and evolved with the changing lifestyle and aspirations of its customers resulting in its growing popularity.”
The highest selling car of the company, till now, is significantly giving tough competition to other vehicles in the Indian auto market. With its masculine looks, this 7-seater car with an engine capacity of 2523 cc, has made its position in rural and suburban region. Returning a mileage of 15.96 kmpl (highway) and 12 kmpl (city), this 2.5-litre M2DiCR engine produces an incredible power of 62.09 bhp, which seems quite appealing.
