The Indian auto maker, Mahindra and Mahindra is now set to enter the business of designing and manufacturing low cost engines for small cars. Small cars around the world may soon run on engines manufactured by Mahindra and Mahindra.
The company has recently acquired an Italian firm, Engines Engineering SPA that holds experrise in designing and manufacturing car engines. This also means that now Mahindra and Mahindra would also be able to manfacture engines for ultra cheap and ultra small cars from Tata or Bajaj-Nissan alliance.
"We are going to help others build engines for future cars with this acquisition," said Hemant Luthra, president, Mahindra Systech. He also added that the company, which is currently Rs .4000 crore company holding expertise in designing engines, wants to develop strong capabilities to design low-cost high-quality engines.
